What you can do and see
The number of things to do or see are virtually endless in Cabarete and the surrounding areas. If you have any questions about these, or are interested in making arrangements to participate in anything listed below, please let us know and we'll do what we can to help.
Surfing at Playa Encuentro
Playa Encuentro, on the Atlantic Ocean, is one of the most famous reef breaks on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. It is located just a 10 minute drive from Cabarete Hostel. In the winter there is swell from the North and in the summer there is swell from the East and Northeast.
Our Surf Bus provides transportation from Cabarete to Playa Encuentro, daily, at 8:30 am and 3:00 pm. If you have never surfed before, you can take a beginner course. If you have surfed before, intermediate
courses are also available. Surfboards of all types and sizes are also available for rent. If you just want to hang out at the beach there, or watch other surfers, you can do that as well. It is a great place to take a nice long walk or go horseback riding on the beach. Our Surf Bus returns to Cabarete at 11:30 am and 5:30 pm, each day.

Cabarete Beach House
The 'Caribbean cool' Cabarete Beach House is a fantastic place to hang out day and night. It's located less than a kilometer east of Cabarete, oceanfront. You can relax on beach loungers on the lawn, overlooking the ocean, or take a dip in the swimming pool. While you're there, order a couple of drinks and something from their scrumptious menu. Everything they serve has a Caribbean flair and seafood choices are fresh from the ocean. Take just a few steps and you're on the
sand and can make your way into the ocean for a dip.
At night Cabaret Beach House offers an amazing atmosphere with great music, fabulous food and thirst-quenching drinks. They have BBQ's, beach parties with camp fires, and dancing until sunrise...all with a view of the star-filled sky and ocean waters.
